For I know the thoughts I think towards you, said the Lord; thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11
Has God ever spoken directly to you - by name? Was your encounter with God and the ensuing relationship the result of circumstances? Did God speak to you in a day or night vision [dream]? Or, have you always been someone who enjoys doing what is right? When God embosses His plan in your life, you know for He devises a direct, affective route to your most innermost being.
Noah preached righteousness and God saved his family. Jacob recognized that surely the presence of the Lord was in the place. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did not fear the fiery furnace and they did not smell of smoke because the Son of God ruled in their circumstances.Samuel heard the voice of God;and he responded by listening with the heart of a servant.
Jonah knew that it was futile to run from God; and David asks where can you go from His presence? In spite of his troubles, Job did not curse God. Instead he declared:"I know that my Redeemer liveth..." Isaiah recognized his unworthiness until an angel with a tong took a live coal from the altar, touched his lips and purged his iniquities. After that, he volunteered for service.
Saul was on his way to Damascus to persecute Christians. Blinded by the presence of Jesus and knocked from his horse to the ground, he asked God about His will. What did God want him - Saul of Tarsus - to do? God transformed him, changed his name to Paul; and he is known as the "Apostle to the Gentiles". Paul proved to be a prolific letter[epistle] writer.
